Well, hey, in yesterday's "Parade" you missed their cover story -- a
really timely, incisive analysis of the great future career of Benazir
Bhutto.

Yes, that was odd, to say the least.  I have noticed such time-caused
inaccuracies in their celebrity questions before, but a feature story?
I spent quite some time looking for a disclaimer box, at the very least,
but....

Per the local rag, Parade was printed several weeks ago.

The implication was that it was bundled with other inserts shortly
thereafter and thus could not be reasonably removed from the package.
An explanation that sounds reasonable to me, but I keep learning more
about the newspaper biz over the years so it could very well be a load
of horse-hockey.

I can attest to the truthiness of this statement (at least it was
truthy fifteen years ago) as I used to work in the publishing plant
that printed Parade magazine. IIRC, there is about a five-week lead
for the deadline.

A similar "oops" occurred when Parade ran an arcticle about the search
for Josef Mengele in 1992. The day the magazine ran on the presses was
also the day hsi remains were discovered in Brazil. Even though the
cover date of the magazine was a month after the discovery, all but a
few thousand copies went out with the original story.
