Some people like the crawl, some don't. Ya can't please everyone.

That's not true. There are many websites that users LOVE and no one
has any complaints.

Compare Yahoo with Google. Why did Google overtake Yahoo in search
when Yahoo was the leader and Google was nobody? There are 2 reasons
why - one is that Google's SITE was easier to use. Uncluttered
interface that loaded fast and didn't bug users with tons of animated
ads. The other reason is that Google gives better results. BUT if
Google's interface hadn't been better than Yahoo's interface many
people would never have given it enough of a chance to see if it gave
better results. They drew people in by the good interface, then
people stayed for the good results.

You can make your site fast and clean and easy for everyone to use and
drop the animations that piss off many of your visitors. Or you can
delude yourself into thinking it's "good enough".

Look at it this way. Supppose that 10% of the people who visit your
site every month dislike it enough to not return. You may think
that's "good enough" - that you don't need those visitors. Well, how
about if your bank took 10% of your money every month as a service
fee? Would you say you didn't need that 10% of your money? Probably
not. Website visitors are like money. Don't do anything to drive
them away.

Bad website design costs you money in the long run. Don't be so in
love with flash and glitter and animations that you ignore valuable
user feedback. For every user who tells you they don't like it, there
are 10 others who also don't like it but won't bother to tell you.
They just won't visit again, or visit as often.

Thanks jc,

We'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think my site is poorly
designed. I have purposely refrained form any sort of outside
advertising and do my best to keep it neat and clutter free.

The ticker stays because I like it and it makes me laugh. The day I
start making the decisions about my work based completely on what
others think is the day it becomes a job.

That said, I do take fan's suggestions to heart and make changes based
on the validity of the criticism, coupled with my own thoughts about
the subject.

Thank you all for your continued support and criticisms of my work.

Can I go back to trying to make people laugh now? Heh.

Cheers,

Corey
