FBOFW: Sept. Letters Up

*** Spoiler Space ***

Elizabeth is paying room and board to live at her parents' place again?!?!
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of her moving back home to SAVE money? And
on top of that, she's groaning about losing her independence when she
moves back. Geez, Liz ... either s**t or get off the pot.

And I think I know why Mike's letters bug me so much ... the pompous,
overblown dialogue is one thing. But it really irritates me that all the
other family members start their letters with some sort of greeting, and
yet Mike always launches into one of his stupid stories, automatically
presuming that we want to hear about it.

Example: "Hey peeps! April here" or
Greetings everyone. It's Jim, writing to you on a beautiful day from our
sun-filled balcony."

Versus the beginning of Mike's letter: "Josef Weeder and I sat on the
front porch watching the kids play in the wading pool for the last time
this year."

As a journalism/English major, I was under the impression that he would
have learned in grade school that personal letters are supposed to start
with a "salutation," rather than jumping right into the "body."
