Well, duh! That's the definition of "progressive" and
"conservative." Like yin and yang the two side need each other to
exist. There will always be pressure for change and there will
always be a need to resist change. From that conflict comes
compromise and ture progess emerges.
Just look at societies that lack a vital opposing counterpart- the
communist dream of Pol Pot's Kampuchea and the stiffled theocracy
of Saudi Arabia are just two examples.
As much as you hate conservatives, they are an important part of
the evolution of our society.
Using the same reasoning, we also need murderers, rapists, and just
plain good old evil in order to balance and compromise all the good
people in the world.
I'm glad I'm on the good side. I wonder how conservatives can look
themselves in the mirror in holy righteousness knowing they're the
"counter-force" to human progress.
*sigh*
OK, you win. You are perfect and anyone without your world view is
evil.
It's my own fault- it's useless to try to talk engage a fanatic in a
discussion.
I never claimed to be perfect, I just pointed out that conservatives
have been on the wrong side of every issue since the dawn of time.
Don't blame me for your track record. And there's nothing fanatical
about it. I asked for an example of the conservatives doing something
positive for the working class and there was absolutely nothing
comparable to the gains made by progressives.
Gains made by liberals. The folks that believed in individual liberty,
limited government, and were tolerant of others.
Just had to stick in that bit about limited government, didn't you? That is
by no means universal. The government can and does good things.

Progressives have nothing in common with liberals other than the fact
that progressives ruined the servicable word "liberal" with a bunch of
socialist nonsense.
One universal rule of thumb is that definitions of liberal, progressive, and
socialism, made by a conservative have nothing in common with reality.
-
Believe it or not, it is possible to support the American Revolution, the
end of slavery, the end of Jim Crow, voting rights for everyone, equality
of opportunity and still oppose socialism without having any
inconsistencies in one's value system.
So what is it you have against socialism? Did someone show you a picture of
Stalin when you were a kid and told you this was the face of socialism? If
so, then you've been lied to.
Do you oppose all forms of socialism in this country? Should we sell our
Parks to the private sector? Should we disarm our military and hire
mercenaries to fight our wars?
