A closer examination of the second panel has convinced me that I am
probably in error on this. I can't think of a reason for that third
chain to exist.
Apparently one to turn the lights on and off, one to control speed and
one to set the direction of the fan, if this Italian-designed,
British-sold model I googled is similar:
fan is just an unbalanced rattling fan. I got a couple of those around here
myself on the 'one of these days' repair list. Mebbe if I didn't spend so
much time hanging out here I would actually cross some items off that list.
