If I don't respond to this peterson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx post, the
terrorists win.

As discussed here numerous times in the past, the strip needs to be
able to stand alone. That's not to say that the letters can't add some
dimension, but in the past several months, they've begun to advance
plot in ways that leave readers of the strip badly cheated.

Hell, I know about the letters and don't read them - for just the reasons
you stated. I shouldn't have to read supplemental materials for a daily
comic strip to make senes.

Put it another way: If, say, The West Wing were to air storylines that
made no sense, continuity or characterization-wise, but it was discovered
that there were character "diaries" that explained many of the gaps,
available on TWW's web site. But no mention of that was ever made on the
show.

We'd feel cheated and annoyed, right? We'd complain every chance we got,
right?

Why should Lynn Johnston get different treatment?
