I don't begrudge anyone changing their minds, but wasn't Elizabeth
thinking of Mtigwaki as home just a year ago? What changed? AFAICT this
turn came totally out of left field.

That was before Anthony was available. Now, she can run to the
mustasche.

Waddle to it. On her knees.

That's it. A formerly great (like really, REALLY great, GREAT) strip is
dead. DEAD. It's dead, Jim. It's not just sleepin'. If being dead is
being guilty, it's GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY! It's an EX-strip!

This is so sad.

***.

I agree, as said. I loved this strip and still respect Lynn enormously
for her contribution to the medium, as well as her support of young
artists. Which makes this more painful than any other shark-jumping.

However - I think we need to give her some credit for the fact that
we're at least seeing the Liz is screwing up the lives of people who
care about her.

It's small comfort, because the basic problem remains that Liz and Mike
both were headed out to vibrant careers in the outside world and both
are being snaked back to a life of backyard family barbecues in
suburbia.

But at least there's some acknowledgment that the change is hurting
people.

Now, the "save" would be for Candace or somebody to say, "Liz, come on!
We all get scared when we stand on the end of the high dive! Go for it,
silly!"

Maybe her uncle Phil could talk about the guts it took him to try to
make it as a muscian instead of taking the safe route.

Or maybe Weed could show her the work he and Mike were doing when they
first got out of university -- the trip to Tokyo and more -- and say,
"Look what we were just starting to do together! And look at him now!
Do you want to end up like that poor hen-pecked wanker, sitting up in
your home office dreaming about what you could have done with your
life?"

That won't happen.

But at least it's not being portrayed as a kind decision that hurts
nobody.
