Re: DS Alert: Oil

Rather than follow the advice of Henry Jones Sr., HS WRand Om couldn't
just let news:bWJag.72946$_S7.47883@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx on 17 May
2006 go.

Has there been a significant opposition to building refineries from
any sizeable portion of the liberal camp?

To be fair, Tinsley doesn't stick a "liberal" tag on the guy. The
glasses, balding head, paunch and suit to me says "Republican" more
than "liberal". Though, given Mallard's track record, there's no way
he could have intentionally allowed the reader to think negative
thoughts of a Republican. Maybe a little self-loathing seeping through
subconsciously?

One of Mallard's common themes is the typical American desire to have it
all at no cost. The current arc is probably some of his best work at
pointing out that sort of thing.

Everybody wants cars with higher gas mileage. Apparently, nobody is
interested in driving them. That sort of thing.

We want cheap gas, but aren't willing to have a refinery located in our
backyard.

That message tends to be diluted when he starts slapping "liberal" tags
on people, but still is part of his message......his one note
wonder....repetitive.....message.
