It's been discussed here before, and you are right, that is pushing it for
combat deployment, even in the Guard. Of course, in most of the recent wars,
even rear-area patrol types and supply types often get shot at.

The other scenario, of course, is that cartoon characters only age when they
are on-screen. So if several weeks go by with no BD, well, those just don't
count.
