OT: cat help!

I know about the cat rescue and beahvior groups. My
admiration for the r.a.c.s.ters just made me think of asking
here. Ok, made me *want* to ask yall!
But if any cat experts here are willing to advise us on
introducing a former stray to our 2-cat household... AUGH!
The nature of our neighborhood brings a lot of both ferals
and abandonees to our yard. We've fostered and found a
home for one, and feed some other ferals. This one, adorable
and very person-oriented, was badly wounded in the wild,
we nursed him back to health, and fell in love with the little...
Long story, but anyway, we introduced him gently into the
house, by the book, literally. Two books actually. In stages,
as directed.
But he keeps attacking our 2 original cat residents. *Not* even
very often, but they are terrorized by the sight of him. Squirt
guns stop his aggression at any one time, but he resumes later.
The other 2 are cowering in our bedroom and not eating enough.
It's been a month with NO progress.
Is there hope?

BLAST these furry things anyway...
