Scott Stantis: Liar or dupe?

The joke:
<http://www.uclick.com/client/sea/prc/2006/01/26/index.html>

The facts:
<http://www.newsmeat.com/washington_political_donations/Jack_Abramoff.php>

Yes, some of Abramoff's clients donated to Democrats -- but less than
they did before they became his clients, and mostly to obvious people
like their local congressman or one on a particular committee they
dealt with.

And, again, LESS than they gave before they became Abramoff clients.
And Abramoff did not give money to Democrats.

Whatever you think of the whole situation, the dialogue doesn't improve
with falsehoods.

Well, when the Washington Post finds itself in the middle of an outrage storm because they made the same error (and never seemed to really correct that error) it's easy to see why Stantis made that mistake. He probably doesn't do any fact checking for his strips either so dupe through negligence?

But it's rightwing. And in the current era, falsehoods are all they've got and they don't hesitate to use them. Just ask John McCain, Max Cleland, John Kerry or or John Murtha.

I like what Steven Colbert calls it (paraphrasing): it's not truth it's "truthiness." It's true because I feel it to be true.
