I thought that when Sally confronted Jeff back when Ralph showed up in
the office, Jeff was very negative, even acting surprised about the idea
that Ralph might get his old job back. It was pretty obvious to me
even back when Ralph was fired that it smelled kinda funny. If Jeff was
investigating Tony this should have been the first thing that came to
his mind. Lawsuit or no, if Ralph was wrongfully terminated then the
company should at least explore making it right.
Even in a non-right-to-work state, if you fire a twenty-plus year senior
manager, you'd better have a darn good reason. I'm surprised that
other management of the company didn't intervene. And I've never seen
any evidence that Ralph is a poor manager. About the only time I've
seen any real conflict is when he has to remind the ladies that work is
a higher priority than chit-chat or that sometimes you have to stay late
to get the job done. Actually, there may have been that one time that
he fouled up a deadline and Sally had to clean it up, but that's the
only time I remember.
