Here's the full Canadian list:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/majorissues/transportationsecurity/baggage.htm
and a briefer, more user-friendly one:
<http://64.233.187.104/search?q=cache:I04btOFRGRoJ:www.catsa-acsta.gc.ca/english/travel_voyage/list.htm+knitting+needles+canadian+carry-on+luggage&hl=en>
Knitting and crochet needles, corkscrews and a few other things that
were among those banned post-9/11 are allowed again. I though nail
files had been allowed but I see they are still banned. It's always a
relief to know you can, however, keep your whip handy.
I've never had to remove my shoes or heard of anyone else who has in a
Canadian airport but I always, always have to turn on and/or
demonstrate electronics for them. For someone who habitually travels
with a CD player, cellphone, PDA, and laptop, this tends to be a bit
of a pain.
