Okay, let's suggest a way to "fix" Spider Man so that the continuity is
as serious as it gets in a comics universe. What is the minimum retcon
needed to jettison the BRAND NEW DAY crap and bring stuff into focus?

During "One More Day," while a "ghost," Peter sneezes and affects the
gunman's shot, and he fails to wound Aunt May.

"Brand New Day" is gone. Never happened.

Oh god. There's no difference between the fanatics of House who are
whinging about Thirteen -- or the Grey's Anatomy fanatics who whine
about, well, everything, for that matter -- and Spider-Man fans who
still haven't gotten over One More Day.

I'd say it's a bit different...nothing has ever happened on House or
Grey's Anatomy that not only totally altered the current status quo
but also retroactively changed everything that came before it...and,
after all that, the stories aren't even good and mostly don't even
require the change...I'd argue there aren't any Spiderman fans who
HAVE gotten over this crap.
