I applaud you for trying the first few issues. You gave it a chance,
you didnt enjoy it, but at least you gave it a chance. Wish more fans
were like you..
Again, plenty of people gave it a chance...and had this same reaction.- Hide quoted text -

Same here. I have the first 3 issues after BND. It doesn't hold my
interest.
There is no suspense. No Peter Parker characterization.
There is just something missing and I don't know what it is.
And don't give me the crap about sticking with the story. I can handle
a slow story for about one or 2 issues.
After issue 4 and nothing much is happening, color me gone.
Say what you what about JMS, but I can tell you when the Morlun arc
was happening,
I was glued to the storyline.
When I was reading the part when Pete was calling his Aunt May at the
payphone, he was actually saying good-bye to her becasue he didn't
think he'd survive the night.
Even in CW, I felt empathy for Peter and worried about him when he
unmasked himself on national televison.
These are stories that make you feel for the character.
This Spider-man in BND leaves me cold.
A lttle off topic, but not much. I got a hold of the first 50 issues
of Fantastic Four since I have NEVER read them before. You can't
believe how much of a story is told in each issue. An incredible joy
to read!

I liked Ben Reilly. It was just stupid to do an about face and kill
him. Maximum Carnage was the worse type of cross-over, it was a
complete waste of space guest stars thrown in to promote other books.
An overly long story. It plane sucked and left me feeling much cheaper
then any retcon.
I liked Ben Reilly too...until they went and made him the real Peter
Parker and had him take over as Spiderman...once that happened, I lost
interest...and I'm surprised you liked it given it required tossing
out Spidey's entire traditional supporting cast and heading off in a
totally new direction...pretty much the polar opposite of the BND you
like so much.
Maximum Carnage certainly wasn't a very good story (and it was way to
long) but it's not even close to the worst Spiderman story (even up to
that point)...and the only characters I can think of that was a part
of that crossover who had their own book other than Spiderman himself
were a couple of New Warriors...all the rest were just extraneous
characters who had been orbiting the Spidey books for years (decades
in some cases).
