You know the thing that bugs me most about this issue...setting aside
how lame and nonsensical One More Day, the retcon, and the new history
is...this issue still wasn't even very good...it was just what I
expected, a Spidey story from the 70s bumped up to modern day...no
character development or innovations to set it apart in any
way...Peter comes off as even more pathetic than usual...Aunt May is
as boring and uninteresting as always and yet still takes up a sizable
chunk of the issue...and the whole Jackpot bit is plain stupid...all
that horrible crap done to Spidey, his characterization, and his
history...and THIS is what it was all for? I was expecting to really
hate this but I wasn't even interested enough to hate it.
Add me to that list. It seems like things were really strained to get
them back to a 70's plot with 21st century sensibilities. And it just
didn't work. Things change in the world and plotting needs to change
with them.
