Um, sorry, but Iron Man is the good guy here. Captain America is the
one who's causing all this trouble for no other reason than because he
doesn't want to work with Agent Hill who is, as you say, "a bitch".
she is. she's a murderous shady liar who's accused Cap of treason since
they met (with no grounds for such claims).
Now, you mention Rodney King. Rodney King just wanted everybody to
"get along". Now, if Captain America had done what Agent Hill had
asked and helped her round up guys like Luke Cage
..... "guys like Luke Cage"? um, your point?
then I'm sure Cap
could have convinced him to register because, you know, he's Cap.
no, he couldn't have, and no, he wouldn't have.
But
then there wouldn't be that fight scene in 22.
most of # 22 was exploring how Luke & his wife felt about the
situation; contrasting Luke's feelings about the SRA with his feeling
about racism and being singled out & forced to do something - anything
- by the government; contrasting the Cages' views with the heavy-handed
put-ons by Tony & Carol (though Carol seemed a bit more sincere & less
of a fascist than IM); and Luke standing his ground, as the pro-SRA
side behaves exactly, predictably, like the strong-arm lackies they
are. Luke is clearly the hero here; his words and his actions were
dead-on and inspiring.
then towards the last third of the book, Cap & co. come to help Luke
and his family (IM & the agents brought in didn't seem all that
concerned about possibly harming the Cage's infant child). the "fight
scene" was the climax of the emotional conflicts building up to it. i
thought it was by far the best NEW AVENGERS issue published.
to try to throw Rodney King into the Cap-Cage side to prove your point,
which seems out of context with how TMafia brought him up, is.. tacky.
and sad.
So now it's Avenger vs.
Avenger and, let's face it, this is all Cap's fault. I mean, where was
Cap when Hydra got onto a SHIELD Helicarrier and almost took out the
State of Rhode Island?
where was Cap when Hill & her men slaughtered all the members of an
apparently rogue SHIELD operation in the Savage land to eliminate
evidence of her own possible culpability? right there, and reacting
with disgust, and righteous indignation. being a hero; not the
traitorous scum she was accusing him of being.
Underground, that's where. Fighting SHIELD
agents and street criminals, trying to build up some goodwill for the
anti-registration movement. That goodwill would have gone out the
window if the Rhode Island had been wiped off the map. 600 dead in
Conneticut? Pfft. That would have been nothing in comaparison to the
countless thousands dead in Rhode Island. "Where was Cap?" people
would have said. That would have been the end of the anti-registration
movement: people would have wanted Cap strung up for not being there
like Hill had asked.
how exactly did HYDRA get into the heli-carrier? was Iron Man there to
conveniently save the day? i missed that, so i'm just wondering...
So, of course, naturally, the Helicarrier didn't
crash and people are going to start sympathizing with Cap et al even
though, let's face it, Iron Man is on the right side here. Sorry.
Martin
if by "right side", you mean "right wing", you're dead on. if you mean
ethically correct, no way. i'm sorry also.
