Re: Can we all agree that Halle Berry ruined X-Men 3?

Not to mention the fact that HOW many of the people on this thread who
are complainig about Storm, her look or especially her accent even know
what a fucking 'African accent' sounds like? There are over 100
countries on that continent, most idiots out there couldn't tell a
Kenyan (where Storm supposedly grew up) from a Namibian. And it isn't
like the nations are monoliths, heck Native Bostonians don't sound like
people from St. Paul Minnesota. The guy is basically complaining cuz
he's a troll and a racist one at that.

No. The Storm in the movies isn't African, she's just black. Storm is
an
important part of X-Men and she /is/ the leader after Cyclops isn't.
Halle Berry did well playing the role of Storm stepping up to become
the
leader as Xavier asked her to.

She said in a recent interview that the charcater was African.

Well then she was misinformed by the people who gave her the scripts.

Has it ever been stated where the movie Storm comes from? If not, then
we have to assume until told otherwise that her background is the same

Just the opposite. Considering the character LACKS an African accent is
indicative that she did NOT grow up in African--until the movie says
otherwise.

as the comic book Storm, ie. born in Harlem of an African-American
father and African mother, but grew up in Africa. So, despite her
place of birth, describing the character as African works for me. I'm
sure she would feel a greater bond with Africa than with the US, which
she was so young when she left she wouldn't remember from her
childhood anyway.
