Why would a gene have energy? It's not a cell. It's a tiny chemical
component of a cell. I suppose it has mass, but energy?

How I read what Wanda did, in the simplest logic, is rearrange the
sequence of genes in a chromosome. No energy gained or lost (except for
whatever unnamed source she uses to effect such a wide-based change), just
DNA that can no longer do what it once did.

It's doubly galling that Bendis, incapable of explaining where Wanda got
immortal power from, now is trying to explain some sort of loss or gain
on a macro world-sized scale she caused by those unknown means.

If there were any excess energy to be troubled about, the simplest
explanation is that she ate it all up to power the spell itself. But, of
course, no. Way too elegant for Mr. blah blah blah Boom!
