I'd be more inclined to go along with that if we had ever found out
WHAT
Fury did to cost him his SHIELD alliegances.


The obvious answer is to wait until November for the final issue of
Secret War. It's pretty obvious that he's stepped down or been forced
to step down in the wake of his actions in that mini.
Also, I'm not sure why you'd be inclined if you knew the exact details.
We already learned in NA #4 that Fury is no longer in charge of
SHIELD. Hence, he would *not* be present at that round table meeting
(not to mention--again--even if he were in charge still, many of those
present at the table don't trust SHIELD; Nick Fury epitomizes the
organization).

Shawn, as I've repeatedly said, WIZARD did an article already on this
very issue. Two months before NA #7 turned up, they showed this
"secret cabal". Exactly the people that were present, and *why*. It's
not speculation.
You're also discounting the fact that it was a meeting that involved
characters that were *rulers* of entire nations (Black Bolt) or leading
authorities on world subjects (Professor X). For all that I wanted to
see a woman in that group, there is *no* MU woman with the credentials
to appear there. Give me a woman who's a leading authority on a
worldwide social issue like mutation or a woman on MU Earth that's the
ruler of a nation. I sure can't think of one. None of the women you
cite qualify, no matter how much you want them to.
