That's funny - I'm exactly the opposite. Until this discussion, I'd never
considered that it might not be part of her hair. It's always looked that
way to me, and I just assumed it was one of those weird things that you
probably shouldn't think about too hard (does she dye her hair in that
pattern, or does it somehow grow naturally like that?)

Can anyone give an example of a Jack Kirby drawing that clearly shows one or
the other explanation for the black bits?
