....All too true. The liver is one of those organs that have resisted
pretty much all efforts to coax into regenerating itself. Last I heard
stem cell therapies haven't worked too well, although reportedly there
was some improvement seen with direct injections of some
neurostimulant - similar to a technique for treating Type-2 Diabetes -
into the liver to force the remaining cells to work harder, but the
long term fear is that this will shorten the life of the liver further
in sacrificing it for better life quality.

....When I think of how many lives could have been saved through stem
cell research having been given blank check funding and 2x4s upside
the heads of everyone who complained about the bogus immorality
claims, I damn near want to cry, scream and break things within reach.
For the want of a society that comprehends the necessity of sacrifice
for others with something as small as a cell is not the same as
murder, we're left with a society whose moral core is actually
corrupted and crippled by those who can't grasp the reality of the
situation. If there truly is a hell, it awaits them, not us.
