I think a little slash-and-burn of the main universe and you don't
have to.
Kill off most of the older JSA and set the JSA comic on Earth-2.
Earth-4, 5, 10 is covered with new or changed versions of their main
characters on the main Earth.
JSA is consistently one of the best books DC has put out for the last
decade...why fix what ain't broke? And I just don't like the idea of
tossing the combined earth...I know it would still be around but if
the stories are focused on other earths then it might as well not be.
To all of you out there proposing one last reboot/retcon to fix all
the problems, has it occurred to you that every past attempt at this
was done with the same intention? Remind me again how many of those
attempts actually solved anything?
They didn't solve anything because the were soft reboots. A hard
reboot is a bad idea, but a multiverse lets you have one without the
problems usually incurred.
No you can't...there too many versions of the characters and their
histories...no single one will ever make everyone happy...be the
combined-earth version or an alternate...and the creators disagree on
these things just as much as the fans do...every time a reboot is
attempted (and switching out for an alternate-earth version is still
basically a reboot) elements of the previous histories still start to
creep back in after a while...it has always happend and it always
will...the only way around this is multiple versions of each character
and I personally think that's crap.
I still any major continuity change or shift will only result in new
problems of a similar nature...there is no way around it with a
library of characters and stories this large...so I'll take the devil
I know over the devil I don't...I say the current status quo is
salvageable as is...clever writers CAN make it work...Geoff Johns has
been proving that on JSA for years now.
