One thing I kinda liked about the JLA/Avengers (despite the fact that
Superman so handily beat Thor AND picked up Mjollnir)
Well, the first one I agree with you, Thor is magic, Superman
shouldn't have been able to just shrug of his blows, ...
I've never really understood this viewpoint. There's nothing magical
about Thor's fist - he's just really strong with Nordic divine magic
as the "excuse" for being strong. Even most of the things he does
with the croquet mallet of doom end up being magically created mundane
effects (magically altered weather is still just weather). The
portrayal of Superman's weakness versus magic has (outside of the some
of Silver Age silliness) generally been in regards to magic designed
to affect him directly. (ie. if you magically conjure up an anvil to
drop on his head, its still just an anvil landing on his nigh
invulnerable noggin; but if you try to turn him into a toad you'll
probably succeed).
Unless Thor pulls something atypically creative out of his hammer, any
fight between he and Supes should boil down to a big slugfest between
ridiculusly strong dudes.
