Isn't Global Warming a good thing for a good thing for Superman? It's
pretty much unquestioned canon that Superman's powers are directly
theto the yellow sun and it's rays. So if green house gases are weakening
andearth's ozone layer and causing more of the sun's rays to get through
heating up the earth, then shouldn't Superman get stronger the worse the
situation gets?
Greenhouse gases prevent heat from escaping the earth's atmosphere. They
don't have anything to do with the ozone layer or the strength of solar
radiation. The thinning ozone layer allows more ultraviolet light to get
through the atmosphere. As far as I know, red suns produce just as much
ultraviolet light as yellow ones, yet Superman can't get power from red
suns. So I don't think Superman's powers come from ultraviolet rays and an
increase in ultraviolet radiation wouldn't do him any good.
Actually, red suns do not produce as much ultraviolet as yellow ones.
Those stars are red because they produce less shorter wavelengths of light
and since UV is even shorter than visible light, less of that is produced.
