2.) Supes tries out a "new power," which sort of looked he threw

I'm guessing he can "shoot" solar energy beams now? If anything, it's
the one power he really *should* have, but never got...

Heat vision? Sounds like shooting solar energy to me.

Wait, I just thought of a third one...

3.) I know well enough to give Morrison the benefit of the doubt, but
when this series began Supes was slowly dying. Is he ever going to
back to that? He doesn't seem to be suffering much in the most recent
issues. What's he dying from anyhow?

His cells were overcharged from flying too close to the sun (during a
solar flare?), causing his cellular structure to break down, IIRC.
However, note the golden Superman visiting from the far future an
issue or two back. If you read Morrison's DC One Million, then you'll
know that this is Superman himself, who is apparently immortal (note
how he laughs and doesn't answer when Superman wonders if he's a
descendant as well). It would seem that predictions of his death are
really nothing to worry about...

True, but the book never says he will die, just that he is dying. He's
mortal, for the moment, but that doesn't mean he can't be "fixed".
