Hell, Roy Thomas has written extensively about the revival in recent
years (and, at the time, was "present" behind the scenes); has he been
given even a few -hours'- notice, he could certainly have re-edited a
few of his AE bits into a great intro.

Roy really wouldn't have been the best person for the intro of this
particular group of stories, though, as he's pointed out in AE issues.
He wasn't at DC then, after all, and has much more to say--with much
more direct, first-hand knowledge--about the 1980s "re-revival" of the
Golden Age characters and the JSA if/when DC ever get around to
collecting A-SS and II. (As it should.)

He did just about everything except actually contribute to the writing of
the book when his writing partner Conway revived the team -- and he had
every opportunity to do -that-, too, if he had wanted, either under a
psuedonym or without official credit. (Ethical considerations prevented
him from accepting.)

Even so, he -did- write in the first issue... sorta...

Besides, and more's the pity, no one at DC seems to be at all
interested in giving Roy any kind of work these days.



Not quite true. He -was- solicited to write an ASSq project last year
which he declined owing to creative differences (DC editorial had a plot
they wanted him to develop within their strictures).
