Wow. How much sad denial and hope is going in that article? Even with
another $200M from DVD sales, it's *only* going to do a little better
than break even. Profit's not going to come for many years when it's
running on Saturday afternoons on USA and that revenue comes in.

Yeah... And $200 mil. on DVD seems really wishful, if Batman Begins, a
more successful and acclaimed film, has done about $160-170 mil. on DVD
thus far.

True, however while Batman Begins may be more acclaimed, it's not
really that much more successful in the amount of money it grossed. It
made $205 M domestic/$166M foreign, Superman Returns is currently at
$193M domestic/$155M foriegn. That's a gap of $12M and $11M
respectively (or $23M worldwide). And Superman, despite reports to the
contray, is not out of theatres yet. At it's current rate, it will
probably end up close to $200M (unfortunely south of it at around
$197M) domestic closing that gap to $8M or so and might even surpass
Batman in the foreign market by a few million. So when all is said and
done, it's possible that the total worldwide take might even be
slightly higher than Batman. definitely very close no matter how you
slice it. So, I agree $200M on DVD is a bit optimistic, it might not be
as far off the mark as some think. $160-$170 (the same as batman) is
probably more accurate considering the total worldwide gross of the two
movies in theatres is so close.
