I don't think that's limited to super-religious versus non here,
either. Both my wife and I felt very uncomfortable with the
stalker/would-be adulterer subtext. You're right in that it's a big
blunder to put that in a family movie in the first place, though, of
course.

I heard Richard and Lois were engaged not married. Look, everyone who
watches a Superman film should know he and Lois are meant for each
other. That means it's someone like Richard who's out of place and
just a temporary distraction.
