That could be a good gimmick. She changes her last name to a
character who's book she's writing.

She claims she changed her name before she got interested in comics.
The name change was due to sexual abuse in her past. She, pretty
much made a big mistake changing her name to Grayson, as people keep
asking her whether she chose it because of Nightwing, which she then
has to correct and explain her reason for changing it, which means
she has to bring up the abuse in her past over and over, which I no
doubt can be pretty painful.

Why the heck wouldn't she just say, "I changed it for personal
reasons." and move on to the next topic?

I suspect that the repeated retelling of the story is cathartic to the
victim, and that it may actually be encouraged by professional
therapists. Lord knows, Craig Ferguson certainly doesn't let us forget
that he was an alcoholic.

When was she raped, and how old was she at the time? Is the story
archived anywhere on-line?

Does not say when she was sexually abused, but judging from the numbers
and hotlines which they included at the bottom of the interview, and
her changing her name legally, it could have been a close family member
who was the paedophile. But that's just a guess. Why the curiousity,
if I may ask?
