Anyhow, I had some questions regaridng JLU. First, I saw that Cartoon
Network *finally* had it back on the schedule last night. What was
with it being off for a bunch for a bunch of weeks? Also, is the
seriously officially dead, as I read somewhere awhile back? What
caused the cancellation? How many episodes are left to be seen in the
U.S.?
I think they just felt it had run it's course.
Where they really lost me was in how inane and childish the plots
became early in JLU's run. Was it the success of Teen Titans that made
the writers decide to dumb the series down to the level of my seven
year old daughter? The show really hit rock bottom when they turned
Wonder Woman into a pig and Batman sang karaoke...
There's nothing childish about that plot. Circe is a mjor enemy of
Wonder Woman. Circe has a history of turning people into pigs.
Now, I'm not sure where the show is going... If it's indeed coming to
an end, is there going to be some closure to things, anything, with
Luthor, Grodd, and Brainiac? And Darkseid for that matter?
There will be closure as I understand it.
I watched
last night's "Ancient History" and was pretty confused... I know I've
missed some episodes along the way, but where the hell did Katar
Hol/Hawkman come from? How did that fit in with Shayera's story arc on
the show? I'm not a big fan of Vixen, a character who's gotten way too
much screen time, but I guess this GL/Vixen/Shayera triangle is
interesting. I just couldn't figure out where Hawkman came from and
how anyone's accepted him after the events in "Starcrossed."
He was an human archeologist, Carter Hall, who touched an ancient
device in an Egyptian tomb and became Hawkman. He tried to convince
Shayera they were reincarnated lovers. She said the device was a
damaged Thangarian Absorbicron and so instead of just passing on info
it had made him think he had actually lived it. When Shadow Thief
called him Katar I can only assume that he also believes the
Absorbicron as well, the Carter must be the reincarnation of Katar Hol.
Or he was humoring him.
Last question: How do the rest of you feel about JLU as opposed to JL?
I just think the writers/producers and Cartoon Network blew it, and
needed to keep things as they were. It had to be shaken up a bit after
"Starcrossed," but JLU was *not* the way to do it... It's a shame
because I think JL was a very successful show until they tinkered with
it too much.
Shaun
I liked them both equally. It was felt it was fun just focusing on one
or two characters an episode. The big seven's character's are defined
enough I don't feel that they need a lot of time on character
development.
