First up, this was my list of what I'll be getting.

I figured.

So, um, yeah, I probably should have tailored some comments to
new readers. ;(

It wasn't important, I just figured since it was in answer to a new
reader query it should be addressed.

WEEKLY
52
- Likely to be worth it.
For a new reader, though?
Well, it will likely make a nice introduction to a large cast.
It might be confusing at first though.

True.

MONTHLY
Detective Comic
Batman
- Avoid until the writer changes
Avoid James Robinson?
Heck, yeah.
I avoid writers who toss previous characterization and history.
Robinson sounds to be restoring both here though, but it doesn't make
up for past transgressions.

Fair enough.

Superman
Action Comics
- Look interesting but I'm waiting for a writer change here too.
Avoid Busiek?
Absolutely.
I've boycotted him for a while over some insults lobbed at fans
who simply disagreed with him.

Fan lob insults at fans. That's what happens.

Aquaman: Sword of Aquaman
- Avoid.
Busiek and Sword & Sourcery? Avoid?
See above.
And S&S rarely works for me in comics.
(Unless Grell is doing the art. <g>)

I guess.

(Shadowpact)
- Getting this. DoV was pretty good.
Disagree. Then again. DC Magic team... how many issues is it likely
to go?
Yeah, that's the downside.
It takes a strong writer to make the DC Magic cast work.
I think Willingham may be up to the challenge though.

I feel that while you can hand wave Superpowers in a team book, magic
really needs to be addressed, with a group of magic users with
different types of magic you just don't have room.
