That's not taking credit for anything, somply expounding the movies
POV on the character

Just from the casual way he says it,

You mean, "in passing conversation when attending another function"

from his general disdain for the source materials,

I wouldn't say "disdain", more an acknowledgement that she has a very poor
selection of villains, which I think you'd be hard pushed to find anyone to
disagree with.

and from his lack of acknowledgment for the works
of those who came before him

Who should be mention ever sentence? William Marston? Perez? Byrne?

- as if this is HIS interpretation and how HE'D like Wonder Woman to be

done,

Well, of course it is, _he's_ the one making the movie. That in no way means
that he's saying he came up with the whole thing.

with nary a nod to the
creative work Perez and others had done in exploring this very same
concept.

I'd wait until the movie comes out and check any acknowledgements. He's
discussing in broad strokes whilst attending something else, not giving play
by play about his screenplay.

I really think you're ripping this apart on flimsy evidence

This wasn't his first interview on his Wonder Woman project, you know. He's been known to show his disdain for her costume, her comics, her TV series - all the while professing his love for her as a character.

Forgot to say in this latest interview, he also shows his disdain for her rogue's gallery - as if previous writers NEVER EVER created worthy opponents for her. Hubris, I'd call that.

From the interview:

> IESB: There are going to villains, there's going to be all that good

Keeping in mind the time and place of this interview, I can't tell if he thinks he's the first writer to come up with the idea of exploiting the connections to Greek Mythology (neverminding Perez' run at the very least). The last sentence seems to be a terribly vague nod at the source material, but (and this come from the vagueness of the sentence) it sounds like he's talking about the origins of the character and her connections to Greek Mythology, not that she's gone round and round with it several times at the very least (and with his self-confessed lack of knowledge of the WW comics, I wouldn't be at all shocked if he was totally unaware of much of what's been done with the character, especially Post Crisis).
