Allow me to backpedal just a little. The remark I was remembering was
from a single interview, and not really an interview but rather a
Crisis Counseling Q&A with Dan DiDio on Newsarama. In response to a
reader's question about the timeline of '52' and OYL, DiDio says, "It
will be clear when the stories take place, as for where? well???"

Maybe I'm reaching, but I interpreted that to mean that there will be
some parallel Earth shenanigans, which of course was confirmed with IC
#4. From DiDio's remark, I got a strong feeling that the whole of
'52' will be taking place on some other Earth, and the OYL stories
will be post-Whatever-Earth-That-Is.
