Re: _My name is Red_ by Orhan Pamuk



I haven't read "Snow" but I will probably read all of his novels this
coming year, I quite enjoyed "Red."

I understand your comment about the characters coming across as
adolescents, but thought Pamuk intended this, that this was a
stylistic element akin to the stylized illustrations. The characters
are depicted almost as cliches. But there are also passages which
resonate with me, where complex thoughts and emotions are depicted
quite realistically, passages relating attitudes abut art and creating
art. The tensions of the two styles and the thought behind them as
reflected in the manner that the characters are depicted.
