Re: HoME Readers Level of Knowledge


Actually, what I forgot to say is that for HoME knowledge as pertains
to the newsgroup, you don't really have to memorize everything. All
you have to know is where to find the information you're looking for.
For instance, I know that the information about the Blue Wizards is in
Unfinished Tales and HoME XII. I know that the origin of Orcs stuff
is at the end of HoME X. The part where CT talks about his
construction of the Beren and Luthien chapter of the Silm is in HoME
V. I couldn't tell you every last detail of that stuff but it's
enough to look it up when I need to. The indices are also excellent,
despite CT's numerous disparaging comments about them, and there's a
separate index volume (which I do not have).
