Multi-posting is NOT the same thing as cross-posting. When somebody
cross-posts, there are markers that set followups so when you respond
in one group, it also responds to other groups. Most good newsreaders
also filter out cross-posts so you only see them in the first group
you download headers for, preventing you from seeing the same message
again and again.
Now, multi-posting doesn't do this. In fact, it does the opposite,
wastes valuable drive space on servers and in general annoys
everybody.
