Rapkin, J., drawn and engraved by. WEST CANADA. London, J. & F.
Tallis, nd. ca. 1853. A map, size 270 x 360 mm, probably from the R.
Montgomery Martin Illustrated Atlas, with decorated borders. There are
five colour vignettes - Niagara Falls, an Indian encampment, a buffalo
hunt, two cavorting beavers, and a groundhog-like creature - drawn by
H. Warren and engraved by Rob't Wallis. The map is hand-coloured.
Ottawa is still Bytown, Sarnia is named Sandwich, and what is now Bruce
County in western Ontario is a blank called Indian Territory. Minor
wear. Faint darkening around the edges. A centre vertical crease and
one other are visible. Very good plus. $275.00.
