Story ID help? Dance on piece of metal

Hi all,
The resident twelve year old swears she once read and loved a story
the only part of which she can now recall being someone ordering a
girl "now, dance!" and the girl tap dances (or stomps) on a piece of
metal to flatten it and make it useable for whatever purpose they need
it flattened for.
It doesn't sound familiar to me, so it wasn't one of the books she got
off my shelves. Anybody out there recognize it?
Our girl does not remember anything more, like whether it was a
picture book, a stand alone/novel sort of book, part of an
anthology... I've read a lot of what she's read, but as I said, this
one isn't ringing any bells.
I've tried googling assorted phrases that might turn it up, and
searching loganberry's book stumper site (I wish they'd get a better
search there).
Thanks
