Help: Lines too thick on my kanji tattoos.

I had my childrens names, in Kanji, tattooed on my right shoulder last
week. The artist I had scheduled in to do my work had broken his wrist,
so I had to have another chap do the work (I was tempted to delay but
I'd psyched myself up for it). I know the quality of the original
artist's work (he did my wife's etc) but, worryingly (?), I belive the
artist that did my tattoos had only been doing it for six months.

Now that the scabs have gone, I can see the artist has missed a few
shapes off one of the (eleven) kanji symbols. I'll go back to have that
fixed. He's also taken a few minor liberties with a few of the shapes,
but I guess I had to expect that. For example, there are three shapes
joined at the points that together make a sort of triangle. On my back
it just looks like a single triangle (not a triangle made up of three
shapes).

More worryingly, a few of the symbols have lines that are too thick.
For example, there's one that has a rectangle with a line in the
centre. It basically looks like one big black rectangle - The line in
the centre is too thick and is almost touching the rectangle. The gap
is almost non existant. Is it possible to repair this? The line in the
centre needs thinning. I'm doubtful this is possible to be honest, but
I'm not happy with it. I fully expect the tattoo to lose definition
over time as the ink runs, but this is not good enough! The original
artist had said he'd make these lines thinner to allow for the ink to
run over time. The artist that did the work has made them thicker!

Help! This is my first tattoo and I'm worried that I'm stuck with
something that is simply not good enough.

BTW: Great newsgroup! The information you guys have here has really
helped me, especially with regards to aftercare.
