I scribbled:
Hnh. The word kanji was never used.
(It's a long shot, but...) maybe it's because they're
talking about chinese characters and kanji is a japanese
word and even though "kanji" literally means "chinese letters",
Hey foibey. :-) Welcome to rec.arts.bodyart. I actually Googled kanji
prior to posting. Answers.com offered basically what you said. More:
http://www.answers.com/topic/kanji
it refers to a pictograph set which has diverged from
the chinese language in quite a few ways over the
centuries since it was appropriated.
Cool. Divergence rules.
On the other hand, it could be because they think readers would
understand "chinese letters" better than "kanji", which is a japanese
word after all.
Regardless, the kanji mention was for the benefit of the meanie-head
wannabes whose heads have been popping up of late. Kanji, much like
gauge and tat, has been a word that's often gotten panties in a bunch
here in rainbows-and-cotton-candy land. So, yeah, I was simply enjoying
a jab at the RAB oldheads.
