In Japan, we have four traditional steps to build a story.
Ki-Sho-Ten-Ketsu that means "begining", "developing",
"changing" and "ending" respectively. It's the basis of
four-panel manga. For example:
Ki: I want a Wii NOW!
Sho: So, I go to a large game shop in Akihabara
Ten: But the game shop sells PS II at 60% off!
Ketsu: What do I buy? PS II!
You might want to email Scott McCloud about this, he's written a lot
about comics and understanding them. In the two of his books that
I've read, I don't think he's mentioned anything like this.
By the way, in "Telepathy Shoujo Ran", Ran's dogs'
name are Ki-Sho and Ten-Ketsu.
It's strange and wondrous what people name their pets...
Her mother is a writer wishing for to get a good Ki-Sho-Ten-Ketsu
in her story, I think. Just strange, though.
