Unless you think they're lying, the evidence has been getting put in
front of you by damn near EVERY ANIME INDUSTRY PERSON WHO SPEAKS ON
THE SUBJECT.
No. Opinions are not facts. Opinions stated by people with ulterior motives to make their opinions SOUND like facts are very much suspect. There are a number of (perfectly legitimate) motives for such people to, shall we say, shade the truth.
Moreover, none of them have given any evidence that "they want to destroy us". Even if I take their statements of the industry at their face value, the worst they have said is "their existence will injure, and may destroy, us."
Intent, Starcade. Intent. Desire to.
I don't think they CARE one way or another.
Now, if you have evidence that the vast majority of fansubbers are sitting there saying "MUAAAHAHAH! With this upload I will DESTROY THE ANIME INDUSTRY!", fine, by all means present it. But I ain't seen it yet.
Or do you deny that the blood of Geneon falls partially on the hands
of the fansubbers?
The failure of a business rests solely on the business itself. You can't adapt to the world, the world runs you over.
The only exception being if a large exterior force DELIBERATELY crushes you. Fansubbers aren't a large exterior force. The GOVERNMENT is a large exterior force, and is quite capable of arranging for a business that was otherwise successful to fail. Other, larger companies are large exterior forces, which may be able to exert market pressures you can't match.
But the fansubbers, and those who download from them, are your target audience. If you can't get them to buy from you, that's YOUR problem. You. You have to market your product in an attractive way, or die. If you can't offer something that makes it worth your customer's while to pay money for your stuff, your stuff doesn't sell, your company goes under. This is called "business".
