How about the fact that consumers are spending more money on anime
**TODAY** then they spent on Anime 10 (or even 5) years ago which
shows that demand at the current price point still exists and isn't
likely to disappear in the near future, contrary to your gloom and
doom predictions.

Explain to me why anime companies are going under. Why Geneon already
has and they don't appear to be the last one if there's so much
goddamned money to be had here!!!

Because their business model sucks.

Probably.

They should hire professional subbers

They DID.

Too slow. Internet is all about speed. I want my subbed Genshiken 2
files as soon as possible, for instance.

(they could even hire some of the excellent fansubbers out
there)

Or in lieu of hiring random people off the internet with little or no
experience in scriptwriting and editing, they could instead hire
seasoned, experienced professionals, and allow them to research the
material they're working on. Oh wait, they did that too.

Well, I am sure they run out of "seasoned professionals" pretty soon.
Some fansubbers are actually pretty seasoned too, although perhaps a
bit too literal for some tastes. I also don't mind having soft subs
with my files, as long as I can download improved versions for free.
Heck, one could even make a nifty program for downloading/playing/
subbing files on the fly.

and put the movies on websites for paying customers to download
ASAP.

Fair 'nuff. Can't say I've ever seen Geneon downloads. Bear in mind
that Internet distribution rights do not necessarily come with the DVD
rights and must often be negotiated separately.

So? It's about MONEY, so they should get to it. ALso keep in mind that
the downloadable files will still be of a lesser resolution that the
actual DVD.

I'd really love to know if ADV / MediaBlasters and everyone else
offering downloads is actually making any money on that count.

Not if they don't have speedy releases.
