issue is always at the other end.
The bottom line is that I advocate fully integrated environments
where a diversity of heterogeneous application software, system
software, network components, and hardware mesh seamlessly. You can
successfully implement a dual XP Vista environment. However, if your
environment is XP only, you
are excluding some valuable recent developments.
As a student who has to deal with all this, I'd rather they NOT burden me
with a dual XP/Vista environment (as well as require me to buy two operating
systems... shall we minimize the unfunded academic mandates, please?) It's
not like the IT guys are the ones who have to make it work, in the end.
Shouldn't be a factor for students if it's done right. That's why
standards-based open architecture networks are the best. Students should
be able to come with Linux, UNIX, Mac, and Windows platforms each with
various versions of operating environments and plug in seamlessly.
