So "Nodame" finishes its run with an "A+" rating from me. I loved the characters, the music, the writing, the dialog - the whole thing.
I just rewatched the ending in the midst of writing this and I've come to the conclusion that it is one of the best endings for a romantic comedy of any sort that I've ever seen.
I'm only halfway through, atm (down with A Orchestra!), but it's been a lucky break that I found this one at the same time as "Lovely Complex":
Had just finished Princess Tutu on disk, and was still a sucker for any "spirit of the performance" art-school series that caption-titled its classical music pieces for the viewer...
But the "silly" half of the series just had the right balance of dynamic--Between Chiyaki's Blackadder-esque "Surrounded by idiots" slow-burn, and Nodame seeming to come from Sunako's home planet, to the point you expected her to be drawn as a faceless SD every time she hung on his arm.
