So, I've been restraining myself from responding to the trolls
and spammers that started showing up here. Has it really made
that much difference? I haven't noticed any indication that they
have given up and gone away due to boredom. In fact, I'm seeing
more each day, and it's hard to keep the killfile updated. I
am willing to bet they don't even think about this group, since
we seem to be accepting their antics as normal. I'm ready to
start fighting back, but if no one else cares, I'm not going to
bother. If it gets bad enough I'll move on to whatever online
blogs I feel like contributing to, and the trolls can have yet
another playground to add to their collection. Broken windows,
and all that.

I don't use spam filters and killfiles because I'm always wondering if
someone with a legit post is going to get swept out because of it.

I don't use spam filters and killfiles because I'd miss all the troll's dopey weaknesses and Achilles' heels--
Y'know, it'd be like playing poker, and only looking at your cards. :)

Besides, if I don't like certain posters, I can simply see their name and
skip over it. The volume on this board is not as bad as, say, 24 Hour Tech
Help.

I just want to caution you. Giving up the group happens too often. I
wouldn't unless a lot of the other regulars give up on it. It's
disappointing to go to a Usenet group and finding it turned into Craig's
List Lite.

Yeah, I'll agree, basic Fred Flinstone "Hold it, HOOOOLD IT, hold it!" moment:
A goofy Unfrozen 90's-Caveman RSPW-barbarian troll dies overnight on this group, gets a couple sucker breaks on some other barbarian group that doesn't know how to clean their headers, keeps our group on the crosspost list just to nyah-nyah us "fagboy otakus" who smart-slapped him in front of all the other groups :-P , and then hit some dream
> "Wrestling/Obit Headline" temporary
gold-vein by pure coincidence that ONLY a 90's Unfrozen Trollboy would still think was "shock" material in 2007...And somebody was actually talking about "giving up on the group"??

Ano, sore wa, eigo de hana***, kudasai?

Simple translation:
"Threat" to the group?...YOU HAVE FREAKIN' *GOT* TO BE -KIDDING-!!! ;)
