This is really sad, though I agree with the point made at the end - not
reading them is no different from burning them. Still, if anyone knows a
school or small town's library, near Kansas City or not, who could use these
things, how about trying to get them together? Should be people willing to
pay for shipping costs. Hey, if he had a list of some of them online, I bet
I could find some I'd be willing to pay cost plus to get.
Obviously it doesn't apply here, but schools and libraries may be reluctant
to take random book donations. There's too big a chance of some political
group, cult, or scientific crackpot to use a library book donation as a
chance to spread their views.
Well, you say that like it's a bad thing. I want the good as well as
bad in my library. Shelve them away from the "true" non-fiction if you
must, but let people read the crackpot stuff. Most of it survives
because the majority doesn't know it exists and thus there's no mocking
or criticism of the views.
Then again, I'm the type to think that if my point of view can't stand
up to a well reasoned argument from the "other side", it's time to
change my views.
