Hehhe :P My machines were finnnnneeeeeee. Just finding components
that would survive HD video editing was hard work :( So many
bog-standard harddrives went up in smoke... blah.

They use the exact same hard drives. Sounds like you were using
the cheapest and not the best.

Nah, always the best. To be honest I think we got a bad batch, so
it's something Windows was doing. We had three fail in as many
months. One good thing came out of it... we have VERY good backups now
:)

How is it that I've been building computers since 1996, and I've
NEVER had a drive fail? Granted, I don't run them forever. I'll
replace them when I want bigger, better, faster, more... but I've
never seen a HD fail in their three year average time in my
computers, let alone in three months... yet you've had three fail in
three months?

Knock on wood, I haven't had a HD failure neither,
and I use them longer than just 3 years.
(I hardly replace; I just add.
When I replace, it's time to build a new computer anyways.)

Well, considering I've probably had ten hard drives, starting with my 1.1 GB
back in 1996 (prior to that, I only had to 5.25" drives on an old
hand-me-down Zenith 8088 (that's right, not even a full 8086) with an EGA
monitor), some of them have to eventually depart the array.
