Are you referring to Mako the Mermaid

Just the first episodes follow, very losely, Andersen's tale, specially
with the fact that Mako could talk.

I think he was referring to the feature film that was released in the US on
VHS as "Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid". I believe he got
the date wrong. Anderusen Dowa Ningyo Hime, the movie, I believe was
released in 1975. Maho no Mako-chan, the TV series, aired in 1970 and
1971.


Yeah. Definitely the movie. And I may have been off on the date.
